Professor: Prof. John Orr
Dr John Orr is an EPSRC Early Career Fellow and University Lecturer in Concrete Structures at the University of Cambridge. His teaching and research are related to sustainable construction, with emphasis placed on concrete, and structural optimisation. John graduated with a first class MEng(hons) degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Bath in 2009, winning three University Awards. He subsequently stayed in the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering to complete a PhD in fabric formwork, Flexible Formwork for Concrete Structures, graduating in 2012. Throughout his PhD John worked in industry with Atkins, who sponsored his research through an EPSRC Collaborative Award in Science and Engineering. Dr Orr joined the University of Cambridge in 2017.

Professor : Prof. Nic Lane
Prof. Nic Lane is a full Professor in the department of Computer Science and Technology at the University of Cambridge, where he leads the Cambridge Machine Learning Systems lab (CaMLSys) which is to invent the next-generation of breakthrough ML-centric systems. Prof. Lane is also a Fellow of St. John’s College, University of Cambridge. With studying the design, architecture and algorithms of scalable and robust end-to-end machine learning (ML) systems. Prof. Lane’s research interests drive towards the development of new forms of ML systems that are revolutionary in how they leverage multi-modal data (e.g., speech, vision, location, inertial information) to infer and reason over complex real-world situations — while simultaneously, maintaining extreme levels of systems flexibility (e.g., distributed execution, adaptation) and efficiency (e.g., compute, memory).

Professor : Prof. Jason Robinson
Jason Robinson has a Professorial Chair in Materials Physics at the University of Cambridge where he is also a joint Head of the Department of Materials Science & Metallurgy and Director of the Quantum Materials & Devices Group. He is also a Fellow of St John’s College, Cambridge. His group focuses on the development of multifunctional materials and nanoelectronic devices to approach key challenges in spintronics, superconductivity, and quantum materials research. Particular research topics include the superconductor proximity effect, unconventional superconductivity, quantum and topological transport. Prof. Robinson’s research is highly collaborative, making use of a broad range of experimental techniques as well as theory. He has made major contributions to superconductivity and spintronics research, including the demonstration of triplet Cooper pairs at superconductor interfaces with magnetic materials and leading the field of superconducting spintronics.
